Medfield Angels

"To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world." ~Anonymous

Medfield Angels-Neighbor Brigade is a community-based network of volunteers. Our mission is to provide care and comfort to Medfield families during times of temporary crisis and to support other volunteer organizations in Medfield. Having volunteers preparing and delivering meals, going to the store or running errands, driving to and from medical appointments, taking care of a family pet or offering a simple act of kindness can be worth more than words can say. There is a spontaneous spirit within each of us that is motivated to help another, to give and to receive, and to make an impact on someone's life. We have over 360 volunteers who have already signed up as Angels. This is such a reflection of this special community. If you would like to join this volunteer network, go to

www.lotsahelpinghands.com/c/623485/login.

When you or someone you know needs assistance from a Medfield Angel contact the coordinators and let us know about your needs. Laurie Nealon 508-359-9876 ljnealon@aol.com and Kathleen Cahill 508-359-7138 Kathleenhome@comcast.net.

Girl Scouts Bring Smiles to Boston's Floating Hospital for Children

To earn their Silver Award, the second highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve, five Medfield 8th grade Girl Scouts from Troop 74900 collected used DVDs and character Band- Aids to entertain the children at Boston's Floating Hospital for Children, part of Tufts Medical Center. After learning that the hospital had just gotten a new DVD player but had very few DVDs, the girls went to work, putting up boxes and flyers around town to collect used DVDs for the hospital. At the same time they collected fun character Band-Aids, which make the children smile after they get a shot. The project was a huge success. The girls collected more than 300 G, PG, and PG-13 rated DVDs and filed them in DVD binders for the hospital's Child Life Center. They also collected more than 150 boxes of Band-Aids - more than 3,000 individual Band-Aids.

To earn the Silver Award, Girl Scouts must choose a project to help improve their community in some way, and spend forty hours working on it. The Girl Scouts from Troop 74900 - Michaela Carrieri, Anna Krah, Erin Mulvihill, Ellen Tucker and Julianne Testa - will receive recognition for their award at the end of the year bridging ceremony held by the Medfield Girl Scouts.
