Celebrating 5 Years - Join the Fun!

On June 1, 2003 an email went out to people in Medfield. Called the "Concerned Citzens of Medfied News", it was meant to inform people about a ballot question on an upcoming town election. Couple of emails over a couple of weeks. No problem.

That Fall emails started to drift in... "Bob, do you still have that email list?" ... "Could you send this out to people?" Sure, why not?

After a few months things started to get serious, and a little chaotic. Applying my vast engineering knowledge and skils (don't try this at home!) I overhauled everything. Out of this chaos came Monday Morning Medfield News.

Now after 5 years ... 186 emails ... and a few goofs ... it is time to celebrate. And to thank all of you who have emailed the news, events, advice, comments, and criticisms.

It's Spring and we can get a little silly here in New England after another Winter.

So, here's the deal:

Subscriber Contest

Since this endeavor began on 6/01 2003, the 601st suscriber will receive a $20 gift certificate to Blue Moon. You, your friends, your neighbors, all of you can subscribe right here:

Q. Deadline? Announcement?

I will announce the winner when we have one. I am pretty sure we will have one; if no winner by, say New Year's Day 2009, I'll donate the certificate to Medfield SCRIP.

Q. How is the winner chosen?

I can count, and so can the server. Whenever anyone subscribes I get an email, with the number of subscribers included. The first email I get that says "now have 601 subscribers" is the winner.

Q. Start date?

March 17, 2008. FYI, the list had 496 subscribers at 9:00am on St. Patrick's Day. (502 by 5:00PM that day.)

Have a little fun for Town Meeting

This is not exactly my idea. One of our elected officials suggested I have people wear something unique to Town Meeting to show how many people read Monday Morning Medfield News (mostly - I think - so they would have something to do sitting up on the dais, instead of staring at us). Having heard crazier things from politicians in an election year, and since this one doesn't cost us a dime, I thought I'd go ahead with it.

So: Wear your favorite Red Sox hat or shirt to Town Meeting.
